The Georgia Student Finance Commission governs the financial aid in the state. It offers a variety of grant and scholarship programs to help students pay for their higher education.

The Georgia HOPE Program is a program completely funded by the Georgia Lottery for Education, and it provides financial assistance to students attending eligible public and private institutions. Students must be a resident of Georgia for 12 consecutive months prior to beginning classes at the HOPE eligible institution. They must enroll in a certificate, diploma, or degree program and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at the school.

The Zell Miller Scholarship is available to residents of Georgia who show academic achievement. Applicants must meet the same requirements of the HOPE program and graduate from an eligible high school as Valedictorian or the Salutatorian with a minimum GPA of 3.7 and a minimum SAT score of 1200 or 26 on the ACT.
